AlNiCo Magnets

AlNiCo Magnets

AlNiCo (Aluminum Nickel Cobalt) magnets were originally developed for meters and instruments and are renowned for excellent temperature stability, high residual induction, and relatively strong magnetic energy, a technology dating back to the 1930s. Within the AlNiCo family, both isotropic and anisotropic magnets can be produced by adjusting alloy composition and manufacturing methods.

Features

High Temperature Stability Maintains magnetic performance across a wide temperature range, ideal for meters and instruments.
Strong Residual Induction Offers high magnetic flux density for reliable and consistent magnetic output.
Relatively High Magnetic Energy Provides strong magnetic strength suitable for precision applications.
Variety of Types Available as cast or sintered, isotropic or anisotropic, to meet different performance requirements.
Mechanical Durability Sintered AlNiCo offers improved mechanical properties over cast types for specialized applications.
Precision Grinding Required Due to brittleness and hardness, AlNiCo magnets require grinding rather than traditional machining.

*Note: The maximum operating temperature and other performance characteristics of a magnet are dependent on the specific material type, magnetic circuit, and application conditions. The values provided above are guidelines for each material type under standard conditions. For example, the Curie temperature (the temperature at which a magnet loses its magnetism and cannot be remagnetized) varies significantly among different materials: Alnico magnets typically have higher Curie temperatures (e.g., 860°C for some grades), while standard neodymium magnets have a Curie temperature around 310°C (590°F). Always refer to the specific material grade and application requirements for accurate performance limits. If you need further assistance with selecting the right material or understanding the temperature limits for your specific application, please contact our technical support. Data Sheet
